5 minutes ago, my notebook encountered blue screen and physical memory dump. As I was halfway through typing in MSN messenger, I was like, "What happened?!?! Shit!" Then I proceeded to force shutdown the stupid machine. After rebooting, I thought to myself ~ wah, need to backup my things liao.
My thoughts automatically go to all my pictures, emails & various data stored in the small little hard disk. Of course, I do have some of the data already backed up in CDs and another external HDD, but not very recently. The question now is: Is it enough? Is burning data to discs and copying them to another HDD enough? What if they fail too? What if the CD got scratched and the data in there cannot be retrieved? Should I burn 1 CD? 2 CDs? 3CDs?
So insecure... and over what? Something as intangible as data. And all this intangible data brought on by what? Technology lor... heheheh.Labels: Rambling |

waiyaa...esok better go backup lorr..my laptop HDD also just crashed 3 weeks back and all data GONE!! The hard disk was giving sounds as though gonna explode soon..weird!!

My old PC also corrupted, fortunately the HDD still working and the PC guy was able to transfer all my pics to the new PC. Lessons learnt:
1. Backup frequently, burnt into CD.
2. Upload to multiple free photohosting website like flikr and multiply.
3. Print out some good one! (I still prefer this, safer with hardcopy!)

now you should realise why those back-up softwares are selling like hot-cakes especially to companies!!
try getting one copy from low yat!!

jazzmint & jefferene: wah, first thing i did this morning, burn all my pictures into CDs... the thing is i snap pictures like crazy, my HDD contains over 2GB of pictures of everyone! LOL
jefferene: i do upload nice ones for friends to view, so if anything happens at least got some there :P

Ya lor. We burn CDs and do back ups very often, otherwise all the precious photos gone...

that's why I always do a backup of my notebook - mainly my pictures ahahahahah! I back them up to my external hard disk and to cds...and so as to not lose the photos just in case, i print them out as well....can't afford to lose photos la! very very precious...data..ai ya...secondary..baby photos are toooo precious!

we did learn a lesson too..my pc HDD gone, all my pretty wedding photo gone!! I spent few days do the scanning & put into power points too, now takda lagi..so sad!Now I have 1pc & 1 notebook, do back up frequently too or burn into cd for collection!

everyone: i've backed up my pictures and chose some to develop... some = 700+ pictures all the way from Aug 2004 till now LOL... *pocket feels really light liao*

You can buy 40GB portable hard disk...
Oh, i should do my backup now, all my son's pictures inside my hard disk!!! Thanks for reminding me!

huisia: I have an external casing with 40GB HDD... but I think 40GB quite limited already, I need a bigger HDD :P
